Dunlop Ltd. Was founded in 1889 by Harvey du Cros and John Boyd Dunlop. The company produced natural rubber objects in England. In 1923, Dunlop Tire & Rubber constructed a 130-acre plant in America on Sheridan Drive in Tonawanda, New York. The Tonawanda Plant produced tires for automobiles, aircrafts, and motorcycles. Dunlop was acquired by Sumitomo Rubber Industries in 1986, and in 1997, 75% controlling interest was obtained by Goodyear Tire & Rubber. The company was consequently renamed Goodyear Dunlop Tires North America. Currently, the Tonawanda plant is the sole location where motorcycle tires are produced in North America.
